The 8 Day Plot Revolution
What is a Plot Revolution?
A Plot Revolution is more than learning how to plot a novel. It's about breaking free from confining, restricting story structures and understanding the core elements that go into telling a good story. This gives you the freedom to creatively use these elements to create your own unique structure to fit the story you want to tell. No more trying to squish your beautifully round story into someone's square peg structure!
This Course is for You If...
-You struggle with outlining your plot or don't know where to begin
-You struggle with common plot hang-ups, like a sagging middle, not knowing where to begin your story, or how to connect scenes together
-Your readers have pointed out plot weaknesses in your books and you want to improve your plotting skills to give your readers a better experience
-Agents have rejected your book because of problems with your plot, and it's holding your back from getting published
-You're frustrated with confining plot structures that don't work for your story
-You want to learn how to tell a great story
Will Knowing How to Plot Really Help You?
Yes! Here are 3 reasons why...
#1 It increases your chances of getting published. Agents will ask for a synopsis of your novel with your submission, and the reason they do this is because they want to see if you know how to create a solid plot, or if your story's a jumbled mess.
#2 It improves your reader's experience and builds trust. If you know how to weave a good plot your reader enjoys, she will be far more likely to want to pick up your next book! (And recommend your book to her friends!)
#3 It makes your life WAY easier as a writer. When you know how to tell a good story from the beginning, you'll have to spend far less time in the editing stages rewriting and trying to fix things. It helps the writing process go more smoothly.
Why This Course?
I believe two things: 1) Structure should serve story, not the other way
around, and 2) There's no one "right" structure--stories are infinitely
complex and diverse and they can't all be confined by one identical structure.
Unlike other plotting courses, The Plot Revolution emphasizes creative flexibility. It takes a "more story, less structure" approach, encouraging you to create your own unique structure for your story instead of following one paint-by-numbers approach.
Second, The Plot Revolution also incorporates character into the plotting process. This is something you won't find in other plotting courses, but it's important to the plotting process! Plot comes from your character, and your character influences your plot. You will learn how to "plot" your character arc--something other courses completely overlook but is very much a part of the plotting stage!
